This is my Story

 

I  grew up in Australia and began a teaching career there. After serving in the Australian Army during the Vietnam War, I held college teaching posts there, and in Papua New Guinea. My expertise was in the field of personal and organizational change. In 1984, I left for the USA to pursue a quest to immerse in the practices of yoga and meditation.  I wanted to learn about the effectiveness of these practices for changing lives.  So began a career in yoga therapy with a focus on mental and emotional health now spanning 38 years. I  founded Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy in 1986, integrating yoga and elements of contemporary psychology and supported by neuroscience.

My published work includes - Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy—Bridge from Body to Soul and Turn Stress Into Bliss. I've also contributed to several books in the field of yoga therap including a chapter in the APA published book Beyond Talk Therapy, Dr. Timothy McCall's book Yoga as Medicine, YogaTherapy and Integrative Medicine, and the recently published Yoga and Science in Pain Care.  In June 2016, I was honored as the opening keynote speaker at the International Association of Yoga Therapists conference and in 2018 a the Yoga Australia Conference. the International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health 2018,  the Toronto Yoga Conference  2018, the Japan Yoga Therapy Conference 2018, and the first Global Consortium on Yoga Therapy, at Sendai, Japan in 2018.

What I've learned from my transformation over five decades has helped me craft an easy-to-follow system that anyone can use to unlock their potential and start flourishing in life like never before.
