What is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy?

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) is an interdisciplinary approach to healing that blends the ancient practice of yoga with modern mind-body psychology. Unlike other popular yoga practices today, which primarily focus on physical postures, PRYT emphasizes building a deep connection with your inner self as a foundation for meaningful connection with others. In this work, we view you as a whole person—body, mind, heart, and spirit. Through a combination of supported yoga postures, mindful awareness, and guided therapeutic dialogue, PRYT helps you listen to the wisdom of your body, gain insight into your emotional and relational patterns, reduce stress, and restore balance and harmony. By learning to trust your inner “knowing” voice, you open the door to authentic self-expression, deeper understanding, and lasting transformation. 

 

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy for Couples

In Deepening Your Relationship, you and your partner will experience how this same body–mind approach can transform the space between you. Through supported poses, gentle touch, shared awareness practices, and guided dialogue, you will be invited to slow down, listen deeply—to yourselves and to each other—and explore how your experiences live in your bodies and in your relationship. Rather than focusing on fixing problems, this work helps you recognize patterns as they arise, communicate with greater honesty and compassion, and reconnect with the trust, intimacy, and vitality that brought you together. As each of you learns to access your own inner wisdom, you also strengthen your capacity to meet one another with presence, empathy, and love, creating a more conscious and connected partnership.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy - 8 Branches of Transformation

As you move through this weekend together, the work is supported by eight interconnected branches of transformation. These themes are not steps to complete, but living qualities you can return to again and again—individually and in your relationship.

Branch 1: Befriending the Body
Transformation begins with reconnecting to your body through direct sensation. What kind of relationship do you currently have with your body? What kind would you like to have? As you listen inwardly, you begin to hear what your body has to say. In your partnership, this also means honoring your partner’s embodied experience as real and meaningful—even when it differs from your own.
Branch 2: Awareness
Awareness is the foundation of change. To what extent are you aware of your body, breath, thoughts, and feelings as you move through daily life—at rest, at work, in play, in relationship? Without awareness, change is out of reach. With awareness, change has already begun. As a couple, cultivating shared awareness allows you to notice patterns as they arise rather than being unconsciously driven by them.
Branch 3: Acceptance
All experience is valid. All experience can be accepted for what it is. Can you accept “what is” as a precondition to change? Can you accept what you become aware of—and even notice where you are not accepting—validating both as part of your unique reality? In relationship, acceptance softens defensiveness and creates space for compassion.
Branch 4: Choice
At any moment, how you are being is your choice—your beliefs, thoughts, assumptions, and actions. It is up to you how you show up now and how you step into the next moment. In each choice lies an opportunity to choose differently. In partnership, this means recognizing that even longstanding relational patterns can shift when one or both of you consciously choose a new way of being.
Branch 5: Discernment
Discernment invites you to look deeper and notice subtle layers of experience. What happens when you distinguish one “flavor” of feeling from another? What are the nuanced qualities of your experience, and how might they inform deeper awareness? As a couple, discernment helps you move beyond surface reactions to understand what is truly present underneath.
Branch 6: Truth
There are two aspects of truth to explore: universal truth and personal truth. Your personal truth evolves as you move through life. What is truly true for you now, as opposed to what you once believed? In relationship, honoring both your own truth and your partner’s truth—without collapsing one into the other—creates authenticity and respect.
Branch 7: Truth in Action
Once you recognize what is true for you, how will you live it? What supports you in acting from your truth? What stands in the way? Can you act in spite of fear? Often, the darkness of fear begins to dissolve in the light of action. In your relationship, this may mean speaking vulnerably, setting a boundary, expressing love, or taking a new relational risk.
Branch 8: Flow
Flow is where integration becomes ease. Just as the body flows from one yoga posture to another, your awareness can flow through the changing experiences of your life together. When you trust this movement—through connection and disconnection, clarity and uncertainty—you begin to experience greater harmony, resilience, and even moments of shared bliss.

Together, these eight branches support an ongoing process of embodied awareness, authentic expression, and conscious partnership—both during this weekend and in the life you continue to create together.

It’s the quiet, unspoken acknowledgment that they are worthy, not because of what they do, but because of who they are, in all their imperfect, raw humanity.

To gift someone the feeling of being enough is to hold up a mirror not to what they lack but to the brilliance they already possess. It is to strip away the layers of doubt and insecurity that the world has cast upon them, allowing them to see themselves clearly for the first time, radiant and whole. They no longer need to strive or perform in your presence, for you have created a space where their soul can rest, where they are loved for simply being.

This gift is not loud or grand; it doesn’t announce itself with fanfare. It is a whisper in the quiet moments, a gentle reassurance when their confidence wavers, a steady hand when they feel unsteady. You give them permission to stand tall in their own truth, knowing that they are not too much or too little. They are, and profoundly, enough.
